Check Cards, Debit Cards, and Credit Cards
The difference between a debit card and a credit card is that with a debit card it immediately deducts the balance from a checking or savings account where the a credit card allows you to spend money you don't actually have and may not be able to afford.
Rechargable Gift Cards
Check cards or debit cards which are linked directly to a checking account are sometimes dual-purpose and can be used in place of a credit card and can be charged by merchants using the credit card networks. There are also gift cards or pre-paid credit cards which act like a regular credit card to buy things, but are like a debit card in that the you must already have money in the account and cannot spend more than you have.
